Your trip officially starts in the late afternoon in Salt Lake City. Gather with your new trip mates at the historic Little America Hotel before heading out for a dinner in the city. Plan for the upcoming adventures and share trip expectations this evening.
Day 2: Transfer to Arches National Park in Moab.
Enjoy a great breakfast before hitting the road to travel through "Green River" and the "Castle Valley" to Moab, Utah, the launching point for Arches National Park. Have lunch and take a short hike as you get your first look at this park's spectacular geological structures. Settle into your accommodations for the next four nights before relaxing at dinner as we plan for the next day's adventures.
Day 3: Take in views as you hike through the red rock wonderland.
Our first destination will be the iconic Arches National Park, renowned for its natural sandstone arches and stunning rock formations. Begin your journey by immersing yourself in the history of the ancient peoples who once inhabited this area, including the ancestral Puebloans and Ute tribes. Explore the visitor center to gain insight into the park's geological wonders before embarking on a hike through one of its captivating canyons, such as Park Avenue or Devil's Garden. As you traverse through the towering arches, sheer cliffs, and winding trails, let your imagination roam free amidst the ancient landscape. Delve into the rich legends and stories that surround this extraordinary place before returning to Moab to unwind with a refreshing happy hour and savor a delicious sunset dinner.
Day 4: Visit Canyonlands National Park.
Embark on a memorable hike along a section of the renowned Burr Trail within the captivating Canyonlands National Park. Initially carved as a cattle trail, it is now one of Utah's most scenic routes. Today's hiking choices offer exploration of the breathtaking lower sections of the Waterpocket Fold or an adventure through one of the awe-inspiring Escalante side canyons. Following a fulfilling day of hiking amidst rugged terrain and breathtaking vistas.
Day 5: Raft on one of America's longest rivers.
Begin the day on an exhilarating rafting adventure down the iconic Colorado River, immersing yourself in the stunning vistas of Canyonlands National Park. As you navigate the river's twists and turns, marvel at the towering red rock cliffs and rugged canyon scenery.
Day 6: Transfer back to Salt Lake City and say farewell to your trip mates.
Amidst the canyon, enjoy one last breakfast before returning to Salt Lake City. We will make a mid-morning stop at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum before the trip ends in the early afternoon back at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
