John K. Butler

John Butler is currently the Chief Investment Officer and a Trustee for the Patrick and Aimee Butler Family Foundation, a Minnesota based family foundation. John also sits on the investment committees for two other family foundations, both based in Michigan. He has been in the investment business for over 30 years and was most recently a partner at Mairs and Power, Minnesota’s oldest independent investment advisory firm. He is on the boards of two privately-held companies, United States Sugar Corporation and Karges-Faulconbridge, and recently joined the board of Wilderness Inquiry.
In the past he has been on the Board of Directors for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, where he chaired their Investment Committee, Catholic Community Foundation, and the Minnesota Council on Foundations. John holds a BA from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
In his spare time, John enjoys skiing, canoeing, fly fishing and reading. He currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota with his partner, Sara, recently retired as an executive from the Medtronic Corporation.
