Overview
The Mystic River, once tidal in nature, now quietly flows 7 miles towards Boston Harbor. The health of the Mystic, Charles, and Neponset Rivers, and and the bay have been significantly affected due to sewage and runoff as Boston’s population has grown, but in recent years infrastructure improvements have greatly improved water quality in the harbor. Since 2015 Canoemobile has been aiding the effort to reconnect people to this waterway and its surrounding natural areas.
