Overview

Toronto is the capital of the Province of Ontario and is Canada’s largest city and the 4th largest city in North America. People have lived in the Toronto area on the northwest shore of Lake Ontario since shortly after the last ice age, but the modern urban community was established in 1793. Today it is one of the world’s most diverse cities and is Canada’s commercial and cultural capital. intersected by three rivers and flanked to the southeast by a long Lake Ontario shoreline, the city also boasts plenty of opportunities for recreation.
