Overview
Boston is a maritime city, famous for the role of its harbor at key moments in our nation’s history and home to one of the principal shipping ports on the east coast. Boston Harbor is located at the mouth of the Charles River in Massachusetts Bay, part of the Atlantic Ocean, making it the only US state capital with an ocean coastline. The harbor is an amazing natural resource, providing important habitat for numerous aquatic and bird species, and significant recreational opportunities in Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. Canoemobile began programming on the Neponset River in 2015 and looks forward to serving more members of the Boston community in the future.
