Overview
Lake Merced is a freshwater lake in the southwest corner of San Francisco, fed by an underground spring. Popular with boaters, hikers, bicyclists, and birdwatchers, this park includes picnic areas, a boathouse, a fishing pier, and a boat launch. If you’re lucky you may even spot Wilderness Inquiry’s Canoemobile program out enjoying a beautiful day on the water! Wilderness Inquiry has been programming at Lake Merced since 2015 in partnership with San Francisco Recreation and Park, as well as many other local organizations.
