About Our Camping Trips
From frontcountry base camping to remote backcountry trails, find your perfect camping experience on a Wilderness Inquiry adventure.
We offer a wide range of camping trips, most falling under two primary types: Basecamping and Backcountry camping, with options typically ranging from 3-7 days. The major difference between them comes down to remoteness and movement between campsites. Backcountry trips tend to hop between sites in more remote settings while basecamping trips make a home out of one site for the entire duration. In tandem with a diverse range of camping options regionally and nationally, we invite you to experience camping at our state-of-the-art Apostle Islands Base Camp — a beautiful, accessible, and inclusive home base in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Come experience the best of shared camping adventures with us!
Go Expedition-Style — or Not!
A unique feature of Wilderness Inquiry camping is the ability to choose your activity and intensity level. Take the leap with a backcountry expedition traversing campsites and waterways — or take it a bit easier, but no less exciting, basecamping in one location for the duration of your adventure.
Bring Your Whole Crew
No matter which camping trip you settle on, rest assured that all are adaptable to and suitable for the whole family. While some may require a little more “roughin’ it” than others — such as a seven-day Boundary Waters Canoe Area Expedition — we pride ourselves on seeking all-inclusive rather than hyper-specialized adventures.
At Home on Lake Superior
Nestled in the gorgeous mixed northern hardwood and boreal forests of Lake Superior’s South Shore, our state-of-the-art, highly accessible Apostle Islands Base Camp provides the perfect home base from which to experience the best of shared outdoor adventures. Camp, hike, kayak, and explore one of the true gems of the Midwest.
